The Name of God
by ClassAvenger ini have a friend who is a jehovah witness.
once we started talking about prayer, and i told him that we referred to god as 'lord', or 'god', or 'father', for reverence or respect, although we did not have prohibited to say jehovah.
he said that i was wrong, that it was necessary to state that the prayer was for jehovah and not any other god.

You are probably on to a loser arguing the toss over the name of God. It is one area that JWs bang on about - "we use the name of God, the other churches do not etc etc" - aside from the fact that Rastas/Masons and others use the name Jehovah. But anyway ....
Name can also refer to reputation, so within the context of the prayer, Jesus may have been indicating that the reputation of God was holy (spiritually clean etc).
Sometimes it is necessary to pick things apart, use a dictionary and retort with logic. JWs are keen to take this approach, we should as well.

Interesting, I was talking this over yesterday with a guy who has been kicked out and is trying to return to the BORG (yep, I know, why!). Well, we came to the conclusion that any angle is ok, as long as both parties are comfortable. The WatchTower have no rights whatsoever to insist "this that ot the other" about sexual conduct. You will find that most members of the congregation will not want to tackle such issues anyway.
Same goes for oral sex, as long as there are no health issues, then why create a fuss about it. As long as both consenting adults are clean, then a little stimulation with the tongue works wonders
The only area I have never felt comfortable with, is anal sex. Way too dirty and dangerous as far as I am concerned. But, if that rings your bell, then I wouldn't judge you. It just ain't for me !

Ahhh yes, the benefit scams. I too know a few that used to do this in the UK & still do. Often claiming to be mentally ill & claiming disability premium (if that's what it's called now) + housing benefit & still able to hobble around from door to door, God-bothering.
It is wrong in my opinion. If you can work in the field and attend regular meetings + participate, then surely you can at the very least work part time and contribute to the society you are leaching off ?
I know there are genuine cases, always, but few in the active ranks of "the truth".
Of course there is always the option of shopping a JW to the local authorities who is falsely claiming benefit while "working". You would probably be doing them a favour, a lesson in taking full responsibility for their own life, something that being a JW robs them of.

Interesting pictures, but they could be fakes!
The problem with images especially as I mentioned earlier, is you can easily fool the eye. Just knocked together two flat bitmaps in Adobe (took 15 minutes of messing about - double that time and it would have been far more convincing):
I could have posted this and said it was an ancient symbol carved into stone. The untrained eye would probably agree.

Interestingly, a lot of reported sightings and descriptions of UFOs are certainly open to wide debate. Many mark them down as manmade experiments and natural phenomena.
One observation about the descriptions of these objects over the last 100 years, has been how they seem to relate to the technology of the time period that they exist within. Over a period of time the shapes and descriptions became more streamlined and "hi-tech". Where as the original saucers from the 40s onwards, looked like Grandma's saucepan on a string. With the introduction of packages like Photoshop and CGI software it is possible to hoax to a far greater degree and this has been the case since the late 70s onwards.
Whilst I do not rule out completely the existence and indeed intervention by "alien" beings, I believe it highly improbable that they would have a lasting interest in this decaying nest that we inhabit.

I second that *sigh*
The US administration "seemingly" would prefer a different gas to be pumped into chambers filled with dirty Arabs. At least that's the way I feel the vibe at present ??

Did a stranger baptize you?
by JH inshouldn't it have been the person who gave you your bible study, that should have baptized you?
in matthew 28:19,20 it says "go therefore and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit.. the way i see it, it should have been the one who gave you the biblical knowledge, that should have baptized you.
making disciples is phase one, and baptizing them is phase two.
